Our Story
Nicole and Christopher first met during a debate tournament in 2006. She was a freshman attending Saint Francis High School, and he a sophomore at Damien Memorial School. Nicole made the first move by asking Christopher to be her date for the Saint Francis School Winterball that year, and he said yes! They started dating on Valentine's Day, 2007. Their first official date was at the Fiftieth State Fair, where he successfully won her a stuffed animal. That summer, Nicole accidentally racked up a $600 cell phone bill from texting Christopher too much while in Europe with a school tour group.
The high school sweethearts pursued their undergraduate degrees in Boston, where Christopher studied History at Harvard College, and Nicole Political Science, Legal Studies, and Philosophy at Brandeis University. Although they both competed in mock trial during college (and made some amazing friends), law school wasn't immediately in the cards. After graduating, Christopher found himself in the business sector, where he worked as a Management Consultant at L.E.K. Consulting, then as a Senior Associate at General Catalyst Partners, and finally as a Director of Business Development and Strategic Initiatives at OM1. Nicole, a forever student in the style of Buster Bluth, was torn between law and medicine, and decided to continue her studies at Columbia University in the City of New York after two years as a paralegal.
Over the course of ten years, they bonded over their love of freedom, America, the 2nd Amendment, and good ramen. After a fortifying steak dinner at the Hawksmoor in London and with a much better haircut than at the Winterball, Christopher asked Nicole to be his at The Ritz Hotel in London, and she said yes!

The Proposal
After Nicole finished her summer semester at Columbia in August 2017 and shortly after leaving the world of venture capital (for now), Christopher planned a European getaway to London, Paris, and Madrid (ask us about the jamon plush that Christopher brought back from Madrid). Unbeknownst to her, Christopher had been designing a custom engagement ring (thanks to the help of some more artistically inclined friends) with a hand-selected diamond and a bespoke setting, over the last few months.
The first (and most important!) stop was London, where Christopher booked a two-night stay at a corner, park / city view suite at The Ritz London Hotel in Piccadilly. After spending most of the morning napping, and after Christopher got his beef jerky, the two spent their afternoon strolling through the city. They dined at Seven Dials Hawksmoor, a steak (shocker, right?) restaurant in Covent Garden, after which they explored London's nightlife, and Nicole bought a couple of fluffy phone cases.
When they returned to the hotel room, Nicole opened the door to find rose petals leading to the living room of their suite, the decor complete with red roses (roses were in a heart shape until someone stepped on them), champagne, and chocolate covered strawberries. "Close to You" by the Carpenters played in the background. Christopher got down on one knee, pulled the ring out of his suit pocket, and asked Nicole to marry him. She said yes!
